FIND 52PHOTOS2012 HERE!

Welcome to 52Photos, a year in images 2011. 52Photos started in January of 2010 as an effort to capture 2010, one week at a time, through the eye of a camera lens. I've enjoyed the process immensely, and have been thankful for all the amazing feedback I've gotten as a response to my images, stories, and thoughts throughout the year. I'll be continuing with the blog through 2011 with a slightly new look, but still providing 52 images and some thoughts to go along with them. Technical to abstract, social commentary and just plain fun, you'll find a mix of topics, variety of images, and hopefully, something you will enjoy following along. I've had a number of people ask "where can I buy a print??". The answer is an easy one... select images are available by clicking here. Of course you can just send me a message too, I'd love to hear from ya!

Young Cannibals

Week 12

Gianfranco
March 26, 2010

One of the coolest things I get to do as a photographer right now is to shoot for Content Magazine, a Life & Style Magazine for and by the people of San Jose. It was on assignment for Content that I captured the image above... probably my favorite from the whole evening. I was covering The Young Cannibals Art Show, a collection of work from a very talented sub-culture of artists in San Jose working out of two downtown industrial buildings.

The show featured paintings, drawings, multi-media and music from a wide range of inspirations. The image above is of Gianfranco Paolozzi, playing the accordion as one of the several musical guests for the evening. Though not showing his work at this show, Gianfranco is an established visual artist himself, the subject of an upcoming Content article, and an engaging and pleasant person to be around.

I'm finding more and more how much I enjoy shooting people. (With a camera mind you, in case anyone was confused). The expressions that can be captured have so much to say about the person, the environment they are in, and their mood... I daresay they can even affect the viewer's mood. I look at the image above, and I want to get a glass of wine and start dancing.

Hope you enjoy the photograph as much as I have.
